Job Purpose

Chill Insurance is currently on the lookout for a MI Report Developer.

This is a technical and analytical role reporting into Data Team Senior Management . The Data Team is part of the support services of the Three Rock Group companies, which consists of Chill Insurance, Quote Devil and Ivernia Insurance.

The candidate will have a strong background in data engineering and visualisation and will be responsible for developing and maintaining TRGs reporting layer to meet business requirements.

The candidate will work as part of the Data Team and support business and operational management as well as the wider data user base with existing and new data requirements for development into production management information and operational reports.

One of the key areas of focus of the role will be engagement with the business and operational functions to understand their reporting needs in consideration of their business objectives and operational key performance indicators and formulating these needs into agreed data and reporting requirements and outcomes. These requirements will then be assimilated into the wider data warehouse and reporting environment to provide improved insights for further business performance in every area of TRG.

Enhancing and maintaining the reporting/visualisation layer will also be a key part of this role as well as delivery of day-to-day elements of the TRG data services, including change requests, ad-hoc and business-as-usual (BAU) activities. It will also require candidates to participate in deep dive data analysis from time to time to support business and operations to formulate insights into a particular problem statement or development area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent the Data team on business forums. Actively engage with the business stakeholders to interpret and understand business needs and transform them into reporting requirements.
  • Gain an understanding of the operations and systems which will allow you to identify and challenge business reporting requirements.
  • Use ETL tools (e.g. ADF) to bring data into our Datawarehouse to facilitate downstream processes and reporting.
  • Create fully automated reports and dashboards to meet the business requirements.
  • Ensure reports are accurate, robust and reconcile to other reports within the overall suite.
  • Demonstrate reports and reporting functionality to the business owners.
  • Conduct analysis stemming from queries from the wider business.
  • Identify, analyse, interpret, and notify trends or patterns in Dashboards, reports, and complex data sets.
  • Manage and support ad-hoc Data requests from the business and provide BAU support and resolve issues raised by the business.
  • Assist in defining, standardizing and documenting reports and data dictionaries with engineering, management, and business leaders.

Experience & Qualifications

  • xpertise in Data Engineering tools such as Microsoft Azure including: Data Factory, Event hubs, Cosmos DB and Azure Synapse.
  • Expertise in TSQL coding.
  • Experience in implementing Business Intelligence reporting solutions (using tools such as Tableau \ Power BI), with a robust route-to-live process.
  • Experience of Dimensional Data Warehouse methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Google Analytics and Google Big Query
  • Proficient in Microsoft desktop tools and particularly Excel.
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry would be an advantage but not essential

  • Self-motivated, with a clear ability to use own initiative and work to tight deadlines in a pressurised environment.
  • Proven ability at problem solving with an analytical approach, but also with an understanding of key business and financial challenges in delivering any solution.
