Cut That Motor Cover Cost!
Slash the Price of Your Policy
At Chill Insurance we know that it can be expensive running a car. There's always a number of necessities you have to fork out for, such as petrol to get from A to B, the NCT to make sure your motor is in tip-top shape and insurance to keep you covered in case the unexpected happens.
In previous months we've listed fuel saving tips and advice to help you get more from your car, well today we're going to look at steps you can follow to make a saving on your car insurance, while still getting the cover you want:
- People on the policy
- To keep the cost of a motor premium low, take a look at who will be named on the policy. Generally the more people on your policy (apart from spouses), the more expensive it will be. Premium costs can also be high if you have a provisional driver on the policy who only drives occasionally, so it might be cheaper to only add them on a temporary basis.
- Do your homework
- When you receive your renewal notice, why not shop around for a cheaper quote? Even though your current insurer may have given you a great deal 12 months ago, it's no guarantee that they will this time around. If you'd rather let someone else do the searching for you, why not give us a call? We'll be delighted to do all the legwork.
- Where's your car kept?
- Insurance companies absolutely love it when people go the extra mile to secure their car and reduce the chances of having to make a claim. In fact, many will lower your motor premium for keeping your car in a garage. So why not make extra space in your garage today? It could save you in the long run.
- It's the way you pay
- Consider how you will pay for your motor premium. Paying for a policy on a month by month (Direct Debit) basis, may seem easier, but in the long run you can end up paying more due to the interest charged. Another handy tip to save money is opting to pay a voluntary excess fee in the event of a claim. If you increase the voluntary excess, this will often reduce the cost of the policy premium.
