Munster Hurling Championship Preview

Tipperary vs Cork

The time has finally come, summer is on it's way and so to are the Senior Hurling and Football Championships!! First up are the hurlers, who take on Tipperary this Sunday at 4pm, in their opening game in Semple Stadium, Thurles.

Last time out, The Rebels suffered a tough loss to Tipp with a score line of 2-27 to 2-15. Late consolation goals from Patrick Horgan and sub Paudie O’Sullivan made the score look some what respectable, however prior to this match, Cork were already condemned to a relegation play-off against Galway.

Two weeks later, the relegation play-off had a nail biting finish and goals from Seamus Harnedy and Patrick Horgan meant that Cork stay in top flight. Although it was a cruel finish for the Tribesman, Cork ended up deserved winners.

After the dominant performance against The Rebels in Round 5 of the league, Tipp took on the future league winners Clare in the quarter finals. Tipp were unfortunate not to make the semi final and although they looked like they had the upper hand in the second half, a late goal from substitute Aron Shanagher edged Clare past them, turning Tipp’s focus to the championship.

Kieran Kingston’s men come into this campaign with a point to prove after some poor performances in the league. Both teams will no doubt believe that a win here, would give them a great deal of momentum going into the rest of the championship.

Here at Chill Insurance we want to wish the best of luck to Kieran Kingston and the senior hurling panel in their Munster Football Championship quarter final this weekend. This match should not disappoint and we can’t wait to see who comes out on top!
