What does the term Excess mean on my policy?

All policies carry an excess. This refers to the amount that your policy does not cover. E.G. if your 'excess' is '125 and you are making a claim for '2,000 the insurance company settlement cheque will be for '1,875. In some instances, it may be possible to increase the policy excess voluntarily which may result in a premium discount.
